And Fred thus spoke to his siblings;
“Man is jostled, my brothers. Man is thrown about whether he sits on a camel or astride his ass. It is best to find your niche on the beast’s backbone early in your journey. Whether it be a little to the left, or more to the right, each man must find his niche. Although I must admit, sitting on your ass makes the task a little harder.”
Thus Spoke Fred
Some men know their destiny when they are but children.
(See Webster; DALI LAMA)
Some men find their destiny when puberty arrives.
(See Rolling Stone; Chippendales)
Some men vision their destiny before they finish school.
(See Forbes; Bill Gates)
Some men discover their destiny when they create a family.
(See Bible; Abraham).
And some men never discover their destiny, only their niche.
(See ibid.; Fred)
And it was thus, that Fred wandered from forest to forest,
from cave to cave – – – – from hither to yon.
Four years as apprentice was his limit.
Two year intervals his norm.

“Hewing creates throbbing within the cranium. Teaching is a joy. Programming is like the proverbial child; at times it is very good. But when it is bad, it is horrible.”
Thus spoke Fred.
Tomorrow: “On Parables”
I’m reading this post while listening to Arthur Godrey’s ‘The man with the weird beard’ perhaps it’s tainting the way I perceive your post but it’s very funny and witty. Love it! I’m no entirely sure what my destiny is anymore. Hope to find it sometime soon if not a niche. Thanks for sharing another awesome work of Bosch and another awesome post!
Dear Purnimodo, Thanks for the nice compliments. I attempt to put a little wry humor in my posts from time to time (when I am not being sarcastic). But now you have me off on another tangent. I have not listened to Arthur Godfrey’s ‘The Man with the Wierd Beard.’ I will have to find a copy somewhere. Utube maybe. Thanks again and have a good afternoon (about 2PM your time?). Wally
I liked the Wierd Beard. Now that brought back this memory. However, it would be unacceptable by today’s standards. Still funny though.
Ahw hahahaha! I’m laughing real hard here in Holland right now. This is so terribly fun!!
Now you have done it Purnimodo! I can’t get all these irrreverant songs out of my mind.
Enjoyed this Wally and the few people in my life that knew early what they wanted to do with their life and how at 44, I still don’t know LOL. I guess I’ve always been a writer – from a very young age it came easily to me and this calling (along with ministers and pastors) runs in my family.
Hi Jackie, For some reason I overlooked this comment and just found it today. Keep up your writing, jewelry and art work. It is you and possibly one of those skills is calling you. Take care. Wally
Happy New Year! And best wishes for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity, in 2013 and beyond!
May your health, happiness, peace, and prosperity be reflected back to you Russel. Have a great 2013.
