Irish Slaves

Iceland was mostly settled by the time I arrived back home. There was a man called Ketil Gufu. He had several Irish slaves who ran away. They found the home of Thord Lambason; in Lambastead. They raided it and set fire, burning Thord and his entire household to death. Thord’s son Lambi had been to the summer assembly but saw the flames at night when he was returning.

All the slaves were hunted down and killed. Each place was given the honor of name of the slave who was killed there.

A man called Grim Svertingsson was well established and came from a good family. He asked for the hand of the daughter of  Thorolf, my brother.  He named her Thord. Therefore she was my neice and step-daughter. I gave permission for them to marry. I also gave them her father’s legacy. They were well set up and lived in Mosfell for a long time.
