controlled the caliphate until 1030 A.D.. The quick changes (9 rulers in 22 years) of weak Caliphs ended the central control of al Andalus thereby setting up the conditions for the “Party Kingdom” era.

Badajoz, Spain was the central command for one of these party kingdoms (taifas).
