Hiram Watts’ soul was somewhat different than that of his fourteen platoon brothers. He didn’t have the musical talent of Ezekial Pratt, the command presence of Karl-Heinz Liebenmeyer or those talents of people like Joshua Crimmins’ thespian skills – – – or Epinetus Wheelwright’s carpenter skills.
Therefore Hiram didn’t have the basic skills for anything except being jovial. So haunting was out of the question.
Hiram appointed himself to the position of Mystic Sexton at “Mission of the Transfiguration” near Blue Mountain Lake.
Hiram’s tasks included caretaker of the church and its contents and graveyard, and often also as bell-ringer, gravedigger, and so on and so forth.
He liked the name because he considered himself as now being transfigured; which was very accurate and insightful. Most of us can’t see ourselves for who we really are. Hiram, on the other hand, could see himself for who he wasn’t.
Hiram’s good nature and lack of haunting ability fit very well with the congregation’s squeamishness about ghosts of the forest. Hiram didn’t bother them by making strange sounds. On the other hand if any of the laity caught a glimpse of Horace they surely were not about to tell the other members.
It was hard enough getting the flock together – – – let alone losing any of that number due to ghostly manifestations.
Hiram Watts was the last Chateaugay Platoon member to find a haunting place.
However, it stands to reason that these 15 ghosts are not about to stay in one particular location.
Like all good members of a military unit they had to have ghostly reunions.
And that is where we will find them – – – tune in tomorrow and don’t turn that dial.
Sleep tight!
to meet one ghost is a thing I could stand,….. but all united… not sure…
Maybe they will have a good time reminiscing about their war experiences. Or maybe they will just get into the Grand Marnier and have a good time until they fall asleep. Wait a minute – – – do ghosts sleep? HHHmmmm. Never thought about that.
Thanks for reading.

Ha! I’d love to meet a happy ghost… not one of those scary, toothy fellows!
I have heard that there are several of these types of ghosts. Most of them are working in the medical marijuana business.
Now that’s a hoot!!
I’m still back at do ghosts sleepl? And do they drink, or smoke ? If yes to all the ?’s then it might be fun to watch the reunion, directly by an exit, just in case!
I know for a fact that they don’t smoke. They are, most of the time, at 98.6. Any warmer and they may start to smoke. I have it on good authority that they do like their wine and can go without sleep for long periods of time. They appear benign and standing near an exit would seem unnecessary.
