Hernando de Soto – that conquering lord,
fought Chief Tuscaloosa with his sword,
this required two thousand Indians to be sent,
to the happy-hunting-ground, so they went.
“My command and wish” he would say,
“for you to fulfill – my words – to obey.”
He marched from Florida to Cosqui –
in Alabama – or so says modern history.
They never had heard of this identity –
as he strutted in his ego-full majesty.
Repeating over and over – “I am your lord,
I am not your normal man – to be ignored,
I am sure that you could not recognize,
I am a favorite of Queen Isabella’s eyes.”
He returned to mother Spain in 1536,
With gold filling several wooden ships.
