The apparition remained focused in the chief’s sight,
the nightmare kept him awake, night after night.
Over those mountains and chasms, he did wander and roam,
the Crows wondered; “Will our great chief ever come home?”
A wolf’s tanned skin, he wore over his head.
this demonstration might remove the dread,
“Please, Great Spirit, all I will need –
is of this apparition – may I be freed? –
banish it – so that I may be on my way,
let me go home to my people I pray,
am I not making myself loud and clear?
do not make me spend my lifetime here.”
