This was an interesting piece to find.
It shows the difference between rural New York and the government of New York.
Now the government is like a shell game in that you never know where its headquarters are.
Sometimes it is in Albany and sometimes it is in New York City.
And this could change overnight. I know one governor who claimed to rule out of Albany but spent all his time in New York City.
But back to the interesting article on fossils of New York.
Oh – – – I guess that was what I was saying. New York politics have fossilized.
Do you see what I am saying? Every time an old fossil is located he is elected and sent to Albany; especially the shark-like fish fossils.
This has been going on for quite some time; almost 200 years as the following article suggests.
So who was this Thomas Tew that made such a great impression on our Governor Fletcher?
“Ah yes; jewels for my ladies will do quite well Mister Tew. I don’t know how to thank you – – – or do I?”
But that was then and this is now.
So how are things going in New York politics now?
Oh yes, Tammany Hall. Now we know where the term “Blowing Smoke up One’s Pants” came from
And “Harper’s Weekly” had such high hopes for our new Governor John T. Hoffman.
However, the poor fellow became entangled with Tammany Hall and now he is putting the squeeze on his fellow politicians.
The more things change – – – the more they stay the same.
Let us hope and pray that the next 150 years may be a little better.
Well I can dream, can’t I?
How many New York politicians can get indicted in one week?
(No, there is no punch line to this question)
Well it is not all fun and games you know.
