About Waldo “Wally” Tomosky and his blogs

I love to write. However, I have no central theme, hardly any continuity and a horrible time keeping my blogs straight. I currently have three blogs including this one. My current blogs are:

http://whoopiebrain.wordpress.com/

The title for the above blog is “This, that, and the other thing.”

The blog contains a whole bunch of odds and ends; weird stuff, emotional stuff, cultural items, philosophical meanderings and anything that fits nowhere else. There is something in this blog for everyone and everything for no one. There is even a story about a man who lost his only original thought. Bummer.

http://adirondackmountains.wordpress.com/

The title of the above blog is “The Short Stories of Waldo.”

The blog contains my short stories. So please read away.  I promise that you will enjoy these stories.

~

Now this blog – – – the one you are currently reading – – –

I am going to use this blog to post REAL THINGS. Well – – – there are a few real things in my other blogs but this one will house stories about real peope who have either been forgotten or never known. My first entries in this blog will be an archaeological project. No – – – we are not going to dig anything up. We will consider everything found on the surface and things that had to be dug up in the library of a small town, the cemeteries of a rural county and the archives in the state of New York. No – – – we are not going to dig up cemeteries; we are going to dig up information FROM cemeteries.

Now if you have a minute go read the first few pages of my books. you can see them right – – – – – HERE!

    • Dear Boomiebol, I am so embarrassed! You thanked me for stopping by your blog and following. I never responded. So sorry. I am over a month late in my response but want you to know I am still enjoying your posts. Once again, my deepest apologies. Wally

  12. Thank you for stopping by and the following.

It was nice visit to your blog. I am always smiling. Some people say “idiot.” But even idiots have a right to be happy. You take care. I am looking for more of your posts.

  15. Hi Waldo, good news; I have nominated you for the Reality Blog Award!

    The rules are at

    Reality Blog Award, thanks ‘R’HubBlog!

    • Waldo "Wally" Tomosky said:

Thank you. I accept the honor and nomination. Lets hope I do the right thing. I am not very good at accepting complements. Thanks again. Wally

      • Dear ptrel41, I saw your post and noted that you allowed me to save face if I did not wish to respond to the award. I appreciate you thinking of me but I will not be passing it along. I have only accepted one award (my first one) and feel I must be consistent by not following up on additional awards. Thank you for your understanding. Wally

  16. Thanks for the “like”. 🙂 !!!

  17. Waldo what interesting blogs you are writing! You have lots of creative ideas.
Are you being affected by the hurricane?

    • Cindy, Thanks for asking about the hurricane. We were threatened but it stayed mostly south of us. We had some wind and rain but nothing to worry about. We are in upstate NY. It is a good thing it missed us because this community has had two 100 year floods within 5 years. People took out second mortgages to rebuild after the first flood and then were flooded again. Some rebuilt, some abandoned their homes, some I am sure, had nervous breakdowns. A third one and we may as well close up shop for the remaining 100 thousand peoplel we have remaining in the metropolitan area.
Thanks for the complement on my blogs. I have a lot of fun writing them and doing my best to be creative. I always liked writing but spent the first 40 years of my life reading software and hardware manuals. Ugh!! But family responsibilities came first. Now I have the time to do what I wish to. First priority=wife, second priority writing. But there (as someone once said), is the rub. I do not set enough time aside to read. I love reading Jorge Luis Borges and Italo Calvino for different reasons. I have to cut back on blogging in order to do more reading. It fuels the creative furnace. Take care, Wally

      • Clearly a man of many parts – two legs, two arms, one head…

      • You forgot the torso. Axe murderers always forget about the torso.

      • Since blogging I now longer read much. Am reading now on my fire. Just found this.
        Hope u know how smart u r

      • Dear Someone. Thank you for the kind complement but if you really knew me you would have a different opinion. I am just one of 325,000,000 citizens in the USA and I don’t know how many billion in the world. I have met so many smart people on my travel through this world that it is humbling. I don’t even make a fly speck when compared to their brilliance. BUT- – – I will graciously accept your complement and say THANK YOU VERY MUCH. It does mean a lot to me. I hope you read all my stories and some of the outlandish stuff I have posted on my four blogs. Thanks again, Wally

  18. Without obligation to respond in kind (or in any manner); I award you
    http://abcofspiritalk.wordpress.com/2012/11/22/wonderful-team-member/
because I love your work… Carolyn

    • Carolyn, I know you said that I did not have to respond yet I would feel bad if I did not at least thank you for your thoughts about my blog. At this time I will accept your good thoughts and complements however my writing and blogs take up most of my time. What time I have remaining I spend reading others posts and leaving the small footprint of a “LIKE” and sometimes a comment on at least one hundred posts each day. I find your posts and comments on my posts very interesting. Thanks again for your thoughts. Wally

  19. Hi Mr. Wally! Thank you so much for liking my posts. I wish I could be a published and creative writer like you someday. All the best to you Sir. 🙂

    • Why thank you so much Stephyy. Stick with it and you will surely get your wish. Someone once said that you have to write at least one million words before you get the drift of it. I don’t know if that is true or not but practice does make perfect. The secret is that the “practice” must be fun or you will get discouraged. Never get discouraged. Take a break and read a book or a short story. If you can get your hands on Jorge Luis Borges’ books read some of his work. Most of it is short stories and VERY creative. He also wrote essays and commentary on other authors. My favorite is “Borges and I.” Very original. I get a lot of inspiration from Borges works so if I get stuck I just pick up any book of his and read a short story or essay. Stick with it and good luck. Wally

  20. Hi Again Mr. Wally ! I just nominated you for a liebster award! Congrats! Details here: http://stepintothecruz.wordpress.com/2012/11/30/nablopomo-finale-ft-2nd-blog-award/ 🙂

What time I have remaining I spend reading others posts and leaving the small footprint of a “LIKE” and sometimes a comment on at least one hundred posts each day. • I’m sorry to hear about your family illness. There’s no time limit on this award and you don’t have to do anything with it at all if you wish. I sat on the first of these for months before I did anything with it.

  29. Thank you very much for visit my site & your time. Nice blog you have. Cheers!

I graciously accept the award. I hope you do not feel bad about this but I do not follow up on awards. But thank you very much for thinking of me and for reading my posts. Your posts and thoughts about personal responsibility line up with mine; therefore I enjoy them very much.
Take care and thank you again.
      Wally

Wally, I just started to read your blogs, as Carol and I just moved to Sandston Va. from Florida. Actually we closed on our home here on 09/13/13 and have been going nuts with fixing up the place and sorting out the junk in our garage. I just got the garage in somewhat of a decent order and might have time to sit back and read, blogs, books etc. I noticed that in your Harmony blog, that you and a blogger talked about the problems of government. I became a fan of Thomas Friedman who writes for the New York Times. He recently recommended a book “Who Stole the American Dream” by Hedrick Smith. You talk about having a hard time finding the time to read, but I recommend the book if you have a chance.

When I was in high school I was on the debating team, and before we could debate against other students we had to memorize a speech and give it at various schools, I have a funny story on the first time I gave the speech, but I will save it for now. The speech that I had to memorize had a speech within the speach that went like this. ” My grand dad in his house of logs said things were going the dogs, his grand dad in the Flemish bogs said things were going to the dogs”, it goes on and on. The ending was “there is someting that I would like to state, the dogs have had a awful wait”. When ever I look towards the future and the effect it will have on my children and grand children, I am reminded of the speech. But somehow I don’t think the dogs will wait this time.

    Tom Harrigan

    • Hi Tom,

First let me congratulate you on your sale and the move to Virginia. I will have to look up Sandston to locate it.

Thanks for reading my blogs. There are two series in there that may interest Jim Carter. Both of them are histories in Greene. In fact the Chenango American had a series of articles about them.
      The blogs start here

INTRODUCTION (To a private archaeology on a public blog)

      and here.

THE STORY OF JEAN GUILLIAME de BESSE (1760 – 1824)

These are the pointers to the first post of each series.

I am not too sure about that Friedman guy. That is because I am Fiscally Conservative and Socially moderate.

Tell Carol I said hello and hope all is well for both of you.

Pury is still at home but every month deteriorates with her illness.

Jack Lyon passed away in December from pneumonia. Doris is hanging on but seems to sound like she is aging. I don’t get to see them due to having to be with Pury almost 24/7.

      Take care,
      Wally
who still drinks Southern Comfort (but not the Manhattans – – – drink it straight now – – – may God have mercy on my soul).

  35. About Kindle…have been on KDP for almost a year, just took them out so I can resubmit elsewhere… when in this section they tie our hands and we are stuck there. So venturing out, going to small presses. I appreciate your sharing your work with us. I too have been writing for 10 years, 3 seriously…Ann

    • Hi Ann,
I stayed away from KDP some of those KDP gimmicks. However, my sales are minimal. I am told that you have to promote, promote, promote in order to sell. That is not something that I like to do. I like to write. So it is what it is. When I sell a book it pleases me but if not I don’t fret over it.
Keep me posted on what you do and how well you make out elsewhere.
      Thanks for the into.
      Wally

    • Ann,
You mentioned an Alabama cotton mill where your mother worked.
The following post is the result of a picturel post made by Stephanie Lane.
It inspired me to do a poem reflecting her thoughts.
In this post is a link to her picture story about the cotton mill in Opelika, Alabama.
I hope you enjoy both posts.

  36. One of those pesky blog awards! I nominated you for an award at SwittersB & Exploring. Participate if time allows….no worries. http://swittersb.wordpress.com/2014/11/07/feeling-the-loves/

  37. you wrote about my family henry birdsall and i was wondering if you have the birdsalls in a book or just here i am really been searching to find out about them please help thank you

    • Hi Ron, I have some files that you may be interested in. Also, there is a book in the Chenango County Historian’s building that I wrote. That office in the city of Norwich, NY. However it is loose bound and the only other copy is in my possession. This book compares the Henry Birdsall Family that lived on the farm and another Birdsall Family that lived in the village. The comparison was done to see how they differed in family size, mode of production, etc. It is more of an academic look at farm and village life.
I will send some files to you at your email address on yahoo.com.
You can respond if there is anything more you would like.
      Thanks for reading my blog.
      Wally

  38. Thank you for choosing to follow my blog! I will enjoy exploring your blogs. One must be really organized to maintain three blogs.

    • Well – – – – if the truth be know I have to work at it very hard. And at other times when I think I have something to say (which I am usually wrong about) I post it wherever it fits best. I will start a new series of 15 posts tomorrow. They go from benign to drastic; however they are in a series and it could not happen in any other way. Hope you enjoy them; floor by floor.
      Wally

  39. Waldo, thanks for signing up to follow my blog 🙂

  40. You are more than welcome.

    Wally

  41. Wishing you and yours Christmas blessings…

    • Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones Carl. Keep those cartoons coming. I really enjoy them. A bit corny but a great philosopher once said, “Don’t stand in the valley of normality, come up to the mountain top and think for yourself.” or something like that. Anyway, I truly enjoy your work.
      And Prospero Anno Nuevo.
