(or – – -The State of Corruption – – – a daydream)

Sea Robbers

They are not just Sea-Robbers – – – they are tax-robbers, job-robbers and enthusiasm-robbers. They are the politicians of New York State. They are – – – what can I say – – – just plain robbers.

They have stolen people’s property and people’s spirit.

I have often wondered about how this all happened. But then I ran across this information and decided it was an inherent flaw within the state of New York.

I believe that Governor Fletcher started the practice of – – – well, allow me the pleasure of turning the story over to the press – – – who has told it quite well over the centuries.

Introducing Thomas Tew

Governor Fletcher on windowsill

Tew and the Gov

And with that – – – the die was set. Never again were the politics of New York State to be honorable, trustworthy, transparent or honest.

You don’t believe me? Well maybe you will believe the National Public Radio.

If any broadcasting system would cover up political misdoings it would be NPR; but look at what they have to say about New York State.

NY Most Corrupt State

New York  (from Wikipedia)

  • New York Comptroller Alan Hevesi (D), was convicted on charges surrounding a “pay to play” scheme regarding the New York State Pension Fund, and was sentenced to 1–4 years.      (2011)
  • Minority  Leader of the New York State Senate John L. Sampson (D), convicted of embezzlement, obstruction of justice and witness tampering.
  • State Senator Shirley Huntley (D), convicted of mail fraud (2013)
  • Majority Leader of the New York State Senate Pedro Espada Jr. (D) On May 14, 2012 a federal jury found Espada guilty of embezzling money from federally funded healthcare clinics, after 11      days of deliberation.
  • State Senator Nicholas Spano (R), in 2012 Spano was indicted for Federal Income    Tax evasion. Spano pleaded guilty to the single felony. He admitted that he underreported his income — $42,419 in federal income taxes and $10,605      in state taxes — from 2000 to 2008. He is to be sentenced to 12 to 18 months in Federal Prison in June 2012.
  • State Senator Carl Kruger (D) resigned his seat and pled guilty to charges of      corruption and bribery. (2011)
  • State Senator Kevin Parker (D), Parker was convicted of a misdemeanor charge, criminal mischief, and on March 21, 2011 was sentenced  to three years’ probation and a $1,000 fine for attacking a New York Post photographer and damaging the photographer’s camera and car door.
  • President of the New York City council Andrew Stein (D) was convicted of tax evasion regarding a Ponzi scheme in November 2010.
  • New York City Council member Larry Seabrook (D) On February 9, 2010, a      federal grand jury indicted Seabrook on 13 counts of money laundering, extortion, and fraud. Seabrook was convicted on 9 charges in July 2012.

I have a dream today – – – I have a dream that one day every valley will be free of graft, every hill will be controlled by its legal owner, not the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. I have a dream that the Adirondack Mountains will really belong to the people – – – and not special interest pseudo academic groups who keep the people at bay.

I have a dream that the rough cultures of our low information voters will be raised up, that the mild mannered voters will speak up, that the crooked halls of our legislature will straighten up and the glory of our state will become real – – – for all to see.

This is my hope, this is my dream, this is my faith – – – that the people of New York State will hew out the corrupt.

With this faith we will be able to transform our political body and shake the despair from our hearts, the discord of Albany and New York City being congenitally joined – – – and that we work together to change this state into a symphony of honesty.

This is my dream – – – that we can stand up together and have a healthy upstate economy.

If all this fails and my dream never ripens – – – then cut New York City from the mainland and send it to Europe – – – or send it out to sea where it can encounter the ghost of Thomas Tew.

Strange lathe

I am working in my office.

I have to learn how to use a machine with an alphanumeric identification; possibly 127-3N or something on that order. It is a hydraulic version of an old mechanical machine. It might be a printer.

After some time I realize it is a hydraulic lathe for spinning large flat pieces of metal – – – aluminum or brass, I am not sure which.

It is the fastest lathe in existence and it sets at an angle. The faceplate that holds the work-piece is also at an angle. It rests on three legs. A very small motor behind the faceplate is supported by three legs and drives the faceplate.

The work-piece is attached with two sided tape.

I am using it to spin a sheet metal bowl. I use a hardwood tool that looks like the end of an overly large drumstick – – – no, not a chicken drumstick – – – that would be a very strange dream – – – just a drumstick that a percussionist would use to play a drum with.

Someone has left a worn work-piece on the floor. It has holes in it.

Door to the universe

Somewhere in Canada.

I have been inducted into the Canadian NASA.

There are three of us.

I am grounded. The other two are excited beyond logic.

We are training and a door opens to the universe. I hold steady knowing that I am not allowed to go there.

One of the excited ones becomes discouraged as the door closes.

We all go out for hamburgers.

We go up and down ladders surrounded by protective railings.

We see another door.

Someone says that on the other side of the door is outer space.

That’s the whole dream.

Pigfish

I was fishing from a bridge but could not walk down the bank to the river.

I caught a big ugly fish then caught a bull and a goat and finally I caught a pig-fish.

A group of people walked by. They were all dressed up. They had just left a hamburger shop because of poor service.

I talked to them about it – – – the poor service, not the pig fish.

Suited Fisherman

I was using worms as bait before trout season opened.

I thought it was OK to do as long as I didn’t keep any fish.

A finely dressed sport came along and gave me a strange look along with a gasp of “Oh!”

I quit fishing because it looked like he might be going to the game warden’s office.

So I walked up the hill only to find myself at a church. There was a big piece of cut stone there. It would have made a nice cornerstone for a courthouse.

Carved on it were the words “One mile to Johnson City, two miles to Owego and three miles to Mama’s cottage by the lake.”

All of the distances were incorrect.

Collage

1.       “You have the same color eyes as I do” she said.

2.      He sat on a rock beside the desert road. He glowed as brilliant as if all the colors of the rainbow were on fire; but he had no halo or aura surrounding him.

3.      Two masters and four Counts.

4.      “Chicanery” and nothing else; just the word.

5.      Dinner at picnic table turns into dinner in bed.

6.      Stumps not cut at ground level; also some high cut stumps have circular holes supposedly cut by a chain saw.

Truck and bull and chicken

Two men sit in an open air truck cab with a calf decal on the door between them.

In the back of the truck, which also is open air, is a bull.

The back of the truck is two tiered and also open aired. On this level there is a huge chicken.

A cowboy sits astride a saddle on the chicken. He has hold of a set of reins that are attached to a chain bit that is in the chicken’s mouth. The cowboy controls the chicken with this arrangement.

Huge tail feathers of the chicken blow in the wind.

That’s about all I have.

Bullldozed Road

My wife and I are visiting relatives in New Jersey. I have made the dream trip from New Jersey to Scranton many times. It is half map and half road. There is always an uphill climb for the car as we enter Scranton on the road-map. Once we get to the top of the hill the map portion disappears and I can see the real road half way to Binghamton; or thirty miles northward.

So you see – – – there is no concern as I make the trip for the n-teenth time.

I have departed the kinfolk’s house in New Jersey and am on the highway. I pass a large group of buildings that appear to be government buildings. They appear to be in the context of some sort of airport. I determine this because one of the buildings is three or four stories tall and has windows all around – – – it must be a control tower.

Suddenly the highway is reduced in size – – – from four lanes to two – – – and I realize I have somehow gotten on the wrong road. I look for an establishment that may have people willing to help me out; a store, a gas station or something on that order.

I pass several buildings that do not appear to have people in them. I see a building on the left that may be a bistro. I pull into one of only two parking spaces in front. As I exit the car I double check to ensure that I can get back on the highway and go in either direction. I notice that there are several parking spaces to the side of the store. There is one car and one pickup truck parked there.

My wife and I walk inside and there appears to be no one there. I say “Hello?” and a man comes out from behind a counter. I tell him my problem and inform him that once I am on the correct road I will have no trouble getting home.

He reaches over to a stack of free maps and opens one on a table. He studies it for a minute and then quietly marks several points along a road. He straightens up and smiles – – – quite satisfied with himself. I look at the map to ensure I know the route number. It is only then that I see a town off to the side – – – it has the name “Stuttgart!”

I question the man’s directions and he says – – – without the least amount of embarrassment – – – “Let’s talk to my wife, she knows about these things.”

He leads the way to the back of the building which is – – – now apparent to me – – – a small grocery store that serves sandwiches and the like. We are in a kitchen that appears empty and the man calls out his wife’s name. She is a little short thing and has been hidden by an open cupboard door. He explains the problem.

She produces another map – – – which for some reason appears more reasonable to me – – – and lays out the directions northward. It is route 7E. I ask her if that is the highway in front of the store. She says “Yes, 7F!” I am now confused between the contradictory directions and decide to take to the highway. I ask for clarity on which way I turn to go northward and am told “Turn right as you enter the highway.”

We do so and are moving towards our destination. The highway enters a small town and the pavement has been torn up in preparation for replacement. It is very rough. There is a fork in the road. The left hand appears to be a side street. The right hand side appears to lead back into the countryside. There are no road signs.

I take the right hand road. It gets worse. Now the road turns into a deep gully which has been recently cut by a bulldozer. The sides of the road are mounded with large piles of fresh dirt. The roadway is also fresh dirt with boulders here and there. I avoid them and then notice that there are no tire tracks in the fresh dirt.

I am the first car to take this road!

Branches hang down and scratch the side and top of the car. I decide to turn around. There is an opening in the dirt bank on the left. I pull through it and into a field.

That is all.

Maybe I will find out what happens in another dream.

flying boy

The dreams of my youth no longer occur.

There were two.

The first one was where I could levitate in order to avoid the monster that was jumping up in the air and trying to grab me. I never got caught but also could not seem to levitate any higher than I needed to in order to avoid the monster.

The monster had a bow and arrow which I could not escape. However, I never came back to earth where he could catch me.

Oh Crap

The second dream was always in the classroom.

I would be asked to stand up and read a passage from a textbook.

It always happened that I either had no pants on or I had an erection.
